MM #6 - Baking Bread and Eating Burgers

The 6th day of Monster Month was redeeming!

I made the whole wheat/flax/walnut bread again, but this time divided the dough into 2 pans for baking. It is so easy to make, I might make a few more batches and freeze some loaves for when life gets busy and I don't have time to make bread.

I will definitely do this from now on, as it came out much more uniform.

I also made homemade hamburger buns to go with the burgers for dinner:

I think they needed to be covered more while rising.

These came out a little darker, probably due to the pan.

I made 8, but Hubs and I had each chosen our bun before I took the picture.

These buns were great, though I didn't let them rise enough so they were a little too dense. It's wonderful to have the fridge filled withe homemade, wonderful food! Hubs made his amazing onion dip, grilled the okra, the burgers and hot dogs and a skewer of shrimp for me. One of the best parts of this meal? The shrimp, okra and burgers were local, the hot dogs were organic and had a short list of pronounceable/recognizable ingredients and the buns were homemade.

There is still no running on my bruised leg, maybe today? I spent a lot of time outside in the garden (we had volunteers come to the community garden yesterday and helped us get all cleaned up for the fall, yeah! and Hubs and I worked a lot on our own garden/yard), and am sore from that work. It's by no means running 12.5 miles, but it's making these past few days feel much less wasted.

Thankfully it's not on my knee!

These numbers are a bit high, but much better than yesterday. I'm realizing this is the first morning that my bruise doesn't hurt after getting up. I think I'll snack and head to the gym to test a run. Wahoo!
