Feeling hot, hot, hot

Being back to work full-time is WONDERFUL. I absolutely love my job. I do need to manage my time better and not let workouts get pushed aside. Last night before going out to dinner with Hubs and some acquaintances I went for a run. I went for a run even though I had to stop at home and get my iPod. I had planned to do 30-45 minutes, but that would have left no time for stretching. Instead I did 20 minutes, stretched, and then we rode our bikes to dinner. The bike ride was easy and short, but really nice!

How far did I go in 20 minutes? 1.48 mile. Yup, that's right - a 13minute30second mile pace. Now I just need to be able to do that for another mile or 2. I am still so bad about giving myself walk breaks. I know it would make me be able to go longer, even if I don't go quite as far. It's just hard to slow down and walk. Tonight I am going to do power pump. If I can get home early enough and am in good shape (it's an outside all day in the gardens day today) I will do another mile or 2.

I'm trying to figure out if the kind of run I did yesterday counts as a hard day? an interval day? I don't want to overdo it, but I also want to be sure that I am getting in enough challenging runs with easier ones that focus on distance. How do you decide?

  2. Well, can't help you since I've been a total slacker lately on my running! I ran 2.6 miles with friends tonight in 28 minutes. I ran only 3 miles last week TOTAL! :)

I'm about to print out an August calendar and try to schedule my runs to make sure I do them because I feel so much better when I run on a regular basis!

  3. Thanks Kayla. I think things are off to a good start. I just wish I had a crystal ball so I could see if I am really on track for a 2.5 hour (or less!!) 1/2.
