Numbers Are My Friend

Yesterday was a quick test at Hub's work, which would give us a discount on our health insurance if we passed. I was nervous, knowing that I am too heavy and would "lose" that category. It was really neat to know that they can test your cholesterol and have results in 5 minutes! I was pleasantly surprised with my results:

LDL (bad cholesterol): Under 130 is normal, and mine was 93
HDL (good cholesterol): Over 60 is high, and mine was 81
Triglycerides: Under 150 is normal, and mine was 127
Glucose: Under 100 is normal (for fasting), and mine was 81
Blood pressure: 131/65 - A bit high for me, but I am always nervous at these things and have a higher BP reading
Height: 5'9
Weight: 199
BMI: 29.4
Body fat: 34.4%
Heart rate: 64 (They did this twice because the first reading came out at 49. I assured them I was not comatose and that I normally hover around 62 or 63.

Not bad for someone with 34.4% body fat, but also not great for someone is 29 and training for a 1/2 marathon.

My run yesterday morning:

It was easier than I expected, but I didn't put an extra fan on so I got pretty hot at the end. At the end I ran at 4.0mph instead of alternating at 4.0mph and 4.5mph. Tomorrow I will do the same type of run and then my distance this weekend of 6 miles.

It's time to get dressed so I can get to work early. I am just about done with Kristin Armstrong's book and will review it in more depth soon.

Happy Wednesday!
