Cast Off the Shackles of Yesterday

.... also known as a recap of my run tonight.

My day was really good (think media publicity for projects of a cause that is near and dear to my heart - community gardens and urban ag!). You just sorta drop what you're doing when the news folks call to interview you or try to arrange times to take video footage of gardens around your city. It did mean I missed yoga this morning and was going to run tonight. I gulped a power bar and some Shot Bloks before hitting the 'mill. I basically repeated my last run, but added in 2 longer running segments instead of switching between 2 minutes of running and 1 minute of walking. I should do this run 1 or 2 more times and then bump it up by 10%. I'm still eating healthy - lots of fruit and protein with calculated carbohydrates. By 'calculated carbs' I mean that when dinner comes around I am closer to vegging out and going to bed rather than running or working in the garden so I limit my carbs to earlier in the day when they will be burned up.

There is no need to focus on yesterday, since I can't go back and un-eat something or add in another set of reps. It's best to just focus on today and make decisions in each moment that honor your true desires and your true potential.

For a little goody package of runner's treats (think Cliff bars and Shot Bloks),
be the first to tell me from what song my post title comes.
It was the only song on my iPod hat got my brain loosened up enough that I could focus on running. And, yes, I keep it in my running playlist.

  2. Susette beat me to it...and I couldn't remember the name of the song anyhow. I just knew it was the 'right to vote for women' song from Mary Poppins. :)
