I woke up this morning feeling as if a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. I made my training schedule last night, 27 weeks to get me right to 1/2 marathon day (10/1/11). I backed off my mileage increases and kept the expectation that my short run days will only be 30 minutes, not 45 minutes. Reading Watch MeGo Run's blog entry last tripped something in my brain. For the first time since I had careened off the wagon, I simply missed running. I didn't feel guilty or angry at myself, but just missed being out there!

I pulled on a running outfit, corralled my hair into 2 pigtails, drank some almond milk with protein powder and headed out the door. I did a brisk 6 minute walk to warm up and then eased into a slow, steady pace. The morning was a little chilly, which helped me to keep from getting too warm and feel nauseas. I didn't plan my route well so I was back to the beginning before hitting the 36 minute mark (6 minute warm up with 30 minutes of running), and I decided to just let the last 4 minutes of running go. I cut through a school so it's hard to calculate my distance exactly, but I did about 1.6 miles.

Training Day 1:
1.6 miles, 26 minutes, 16 minute mile
