Training Day 7 aka I Still Have No Clever Blog Titles

The clutch cable on my husband's motorcycle snapped yesterday so I legitimately did not get to run as I was an integral part of getting him the tools he needed and a ride home. This morning I let the dogs out, put on my running capris, which I still love by the way, and headed out the door. Oh, I did drink a little more than 1/2 cup of coconut milk and 1/2 scoop of protein powder to get me fueled up and to keep me moving.

I did a 4 minute warm-up and then moved into walk/run intervals for two minutes each. I found my energy was dragging and was glad that I was giving myself the 2 minutes of recovery. My heart rate crept up higher than I wanted a few times, which meant I ran slower and focused more on breathing and going slower during the 2 minute walks. I went my normal route, which now includes taking the main road instead of going back past the McDonald's dumpster that inevitably leads to stomach mutiny.

The weather is warming up for real down here now, which means that heading out at 7:30 for a long run is getting too late. I suppose for some people it wouldn't be too warm, but I overheat easily. At nearly 9:30 am we are 74 degrees.

I decided on a large breakfast this morning as it really does help to keep me going better through the day. At 673 calories, with 11 grams of fiber and 38 grams of protein I should be good for a while! I mixed my homemade granola, plain cheerios and pumpkin/flax granola with amazing strawberries that we got at the farmers' market yesterday and plain yogurt drizzled with honey.

Ok, round two of motorcycle repairs begins soon, so I must get dressed (yes, I am still sitting here in my running clothes) and head out.

Training Day 7:
2.7 miles, 37 minutes, 13:42 average pace

  2. It's good to run by your heart rate so even though it may have been slower, I bet it's better for you in the long run.
Your breakfast sounds yummy! Can't wait for the tutorial on granola. I've been wanting to make it for a while now!
