Quick Catch-Up

I won't be able to spend the time I want now telling you about all the lessons that I learned during my 10k on Sunday. Here's a quick glimpse of what's going on:

Yesterday was Jillian Michael's day and it was actually nice to get back to her. Last week I did other workouts because my access to her video was limited. I had been getting excited to take a complete break from her workouts for March, but I think I will keep doing it once a week.

Today is a run day, and I am debating what I want to focus on. I think instead of seeing what my 5k time is I will do some speed work. My legs and back are sore from Jillian yesterday, mostly because I didn't stretch enough. Ok, I didn't stretch at all. I had to shower and leave immediately after finishing the workout to get to a meeting. Excuses. Excuses. I'm paying for it now.

And, with a few days left to complete my goals for February I am thinking about March goals. I will definitely be bumping up my workouts, but I also need to think about nutrition goals. I know I've said it before, but focusing on what I will be doing is much more satisfying than thinking about what I won't eat.

Oh, and I am trying to find a layout that I like and is reader friendly. Thanks for being patient!

  1. I always love setting new goals. Something about a fresh start! I am sure whatever you set, you will do great! Have a great day.

  2. Don't focus on what you WON'T eat, focus on what you WILL eat! That's way more fun and interesting. There are so many delicious, healthy recipes online (I'd suggest some, but you know how dangerous it is for me even to stand in a kitchen). Maybe planning and sampling new, exciting recipes will serve you better than the Thou Shalt Not of restriction. If you're eating healthy food, you won't be as tempted by the crap, right?

  3. I like how you have new goals for each month. Very cool! And I like your layout. I think it's easy to read and navigate. Maybe you could give me some lessons!

  4. Thanks Marisa! I agree that focusing on what I will do is the best way to go.
Jen and Katie, I find that new goals help keep me focused and from veering too far off track. Katie, do you set monthly goals?
Sometimes when I don't know what to post I will go into the design area and just try out different colors and styles.

  5. I agree with Marisa in that meal planning based on what you can eat is way more fun (and easier) than planning around what you won't eat. And it can open up new ideas and avenues to explore in terms of cooking and eating. I don't have any single recipes to recommend, but I do have some go-to cookbooks that I use frequently. If you'd like, I can send you the titles. :)

Also, another friend of mine, Melissa, is a runner and she also has a blog on which she often has some really good recipes. She's also in the process of working through healing after gaining control of an eating disorder, so that comes up too. I enjoy her writing, and I've tried some of her recipes and they are quite tasty.
